At Aronson Advertising, the holiday season is one of our favorite times of the year. In addition to spending extra time with our loved ones, we also let the holiday spirit roam through the halls of the office. From elaborate decorations to meticulously crafted baked goods, holiday traditions are also made with co-workers thanks to a full lineup of exciting activities. Here’s a complete rundown of our jam-packed weeks of holiday festivities.
Coat Drive & Toys for Tots
Each year, Aronson employees donate to the PATH (Palatine Assisting Through Hope) Coat Drive and Toys for Tots. This year, both designated bins were overflowing with warm winter clothing and toys for families in need.
PATH is a local charity that helps underprivileged families from the greater Palatine, IL, area who are in need of clothing, food, and other basic necessities. Toys for Tots is a holiday charity run by the United States Marine Corps whose mission is to bring Christmas joy to less fortunate children.
Turkey Hunt
For the first-annual turkey hunt, Aronson employees scoured the office to search for more than 100 carefully placed pictures of turkeys. Participants who found the most fowl won a prize. This year, SEO member Stephen was the lucky winner!
Deck the Halls
One of the most competitive holiday traditions at Aronson is the desk decorating contest. Each department works together to turn their space into a winter wonderland. Festive themes included the Nightmare Before Christmas, Santa’s workshop, and “Jolly Old St. Nic Cage.” First-place winners received a trip to an escape room. Second-place winners will get a team lunch. Third-place winners are having an ice cream social with flavors and toppings of their choice.
Cards for Kids
Aronson employees participated in creating hand-made holiday cards for hospitalized kids. During lunch hours for two days in a row, crafting supplies were used to construct a variety of fun and festive cards that are sure to cheer up recipients. These cards will be distributed to hospitalized children throughout the Chicagoland area.
Holiday PJ Day
Team members were encouraged to get comfy and cozy by wearing their cutest and funniest holiday-themed PJs. Top ensembles that were spotted include Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, snowflakes patterns, and the pink bunny onesie from “A Christmas Story.”
Company Holiday Party
Each year, the entire company comes together to celebrate the holidays at the Schaumburg, IL, restaurant and arcade PAC-MAN Entertainment. Employees chatted, ate, bowled, and took advantage of the plethora of exciting arcade games. To recognize the hard work of employees and teams throughout the company, the first-annual Aronson Awards were also held in which the winners were given awards they can proudly display on their desks. Finally, a raffle took place in which employees were given the opportunity to win a variety of fun prizes like gift cards, home goods, and other coveted items.
White Elephant & Ugly Sweater Day
The annual company-wide white elephant was a hit as usual. Employees that participated were asked to bring the silliest gift they could find under $10. While some people opted for beer, gift cards, and cash, others brought in extremely goofy presents like a sequin Nicholas Cage pillow, a Christmas tree plunger, and a book showcasing taxidermy gone wrong.
Ugly sweater season was also in full swing at Aronson. Employees wore their gaudiest Christmas sweaters to get into the holiday spirit. We spotted Grumpy Cat, Buddy the Elf, and a homemade sweater adorned with ornaments.
Bake-Off
By far the most delicious of holiday festivities was the annual bake-off competition. Participating employees brought in sample sizes of their tastiest recipes. While all of the dishes brought in were absolutely scrumptious, ultimately, content team member Savannah’s mirror glazed blue velvet cake with toasted marshmallow buttercream won first place. She was rewarded with a French cooking class for two.
