Top 7 Must-See Exhibits at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show

What is there to do and see at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show? A lot. From interactive displays to the debut of the latest production models, attendees are never lacking topics to discuss, tweet, or post on Facebook. The 2017 auto show is set to open its doors to the press on February 9th and to the public on February 11th, but information on new models and displays has already started to leak out.

Take a look at the seven displays and vehicles that every attendee must see, and be sure to follow our team on Facebook and Twitter for updates on our experiences at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show throughout February.

  1. The Kia Display. Known for delivering impressive concepts, it sounds like Kia is turning a vehicle of the future into a coupe of the present. When the Kia GT Stinger debuted in 2014 as a concept, auto aficionados responded by asking, “Why doesn’t Kia make a car like that?” We have good news to share. The Kia GT4 Stinger will become a reality in 2018. While the production version will be closer to the 2011 Kia GT concept, it’s unlikely that anyone will complain once they see the new grand touring sports car that the Korean auto manufacturer has developed. Kia is expected to have the new Niro compact SUV along with the updated Cadenza on display for consumers to check out as well.
  1. Updated App Engagement. Looking to better engage with attendees and provide greater value for exhibitors, the Chicago Auto Show developed a proprietary app for Android and Apple devices. Updated for the 2017 Chicago Auto Show, the new app provides a message center, a $2 discount on tickets, and My Garage function which allows users to save the vehicles they see in a ‘digital garage.’
  1. Mercedes-Benz AMG Debut Vehicles. Mercedes-Benz is unveiling not one, but two 2018 AMG models. The new AMG GT and GT C will be on display for the world to see. Developed to compete with the Audi R8, Nissan GT-R, and Porsche 911, the new AMG GT models feature a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 engine capable of 550 horsepower, along with several track-focused safety and technology upgrades.
  1. New Volkswagen SUVs. Featuring an updated Tiguan and an all new mid-size Atlas and crossover Alltrack, Volkswagen is in the process of repositioning itself in the marketplace, and the 2017 Chicago Auto Show is the first chance to see the new lineup together. Stop by the VW display to get more details on the ‘go-anywhere’ capability of the new Alltrack, or sit in the driver’s seat of the 2018 Atlas.
  1. Jeep Adventure and Toyota Test Track. Jeep has created an extensive series of obstacles for all six production models to rumble through. Whether you’re interested in the compact Jeep Renegade or the full-size Grand Cherokee, attendees can see what Jeep 4×4 technology can really do. Toyota provided attendees in previous years with opportunities to cruise in a Corolla or take a RAV4 Hybrid to the beach. Toyota hasn’t confirmed which vehicles will be available this year, but they are sure to continue allowing visitors to experience their vehicle on a live test track.
  1. The two new test tracks. The 2017 Chicago Auto Show will feature two new test tracks bringing the total number of indoor testing displays to five. Attendees will be able to take a Ram truck on a six-station proving ground to highlight the pickup’s advanced capabilities or take a Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUV on the “Iron Schöckl” challenge up a 45-degree incline and a 45-degree descent.
  1. The Lego Batmobile from Chevy. Developed specifically for the new Lego Batman movie, the plastic-block Batmobile is the ‘must-see’ exhibit for kids and parents alike. The 17-foot long Lego Batmobile needed over 340,000 individual bricks to complete, took 220 hours to design, and needed over 1,800 hours of work by a team of Master Builders. Chevy went as far to give the Lego Batmobile its own vehicle description page on their website for anyone looking for detailed specs and features. It’s not every day you see a new car with an Automatic Nerd Alert and a standard roof ejection function.
