2017 Chicago Auto Show Wraps Up

If you are planning on buying a new car, auto shows are a great way to get a first hand feel for every brand and vehicle on your list, plus recently released models, all in one place. Our favorite is our hometown Chicago Auto Show.

The Chicago Auto Show is the largest and one of the oldest auto shows in North America, and occupies over one million square feet of automotive goodness in McCormick Place convention center. This year, the 109th Chicago Auto Show entertained hundreds of thousands throughout the month of February with more than 1,000 models across 40 different brands.
What went down this year?

  • Feb. 9-10th: Media Preview Days! Aronson employees attended these days.
  • Feb. 10th: 2017 First Look for Charity. This annual black tie preview event regularly raises more than $2.5 million dollars for 18 local organizations.
  • Feb. 11th: Opening Ceremonies.
  • Feb. 15th: Women’s Day at the Chicago Auto Show.
  • Feb. 17th: Hispanic Heritage Day at the Chicago Auto Show.
  • Feb. 20th: Family Day at the Chicago Auto Show, and the last day of the show.

What did we see?

  • Lots of special editions, including the Chevy Redline and Nissan Midnight editions, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Recon, and Mopar ’17 Dodge Challenger, to name a few.
  • New body styles unveiled, including the Hyundai Elantra GT and Nissan Titan King Cab.
  • Performance improvements, from the Toyota Sequoia and Tundra’s new TRD Sport editions, to the high powered Dodge Durango SRT.
  • Redesigns and special variants, including the new lighter Ford Expedition and the wheelchair accessible BraunAbility Chrysler Pacifica.
  • Pop-culture themed exhibits, from a life-size Batmobile built entirely from Lego blocks, with a station for visitors to build their own tiny versions, to a Star Wars: Rogue One display featuring an X-Wing inspired Nissan Rogue and appearances by Stormtroopers.
  • Five indoor test tracks and four additional outdoor test-drive opportunities.
  • A huge variety of interactive activities, including photo booths, racing simulators, and kid-friendly game shows and competitions.
