The Chicago Auto Show is the nationâs largest auto show, featuring over 1,000 vehicles, and covering over a million square feet of space. A group of us from Aronson Advertising were invited to attend the Media Preview in order to take a closer look at the vehicles we help our clients sell every day! With so much ground to cover and so many cars to see, weâve decided to show you a few highlights and teasers to get you excited to go for yourself!
New Designs and Reemerging Trends
For those seeking a glimpse into the future of car design, two standouts were the Cadillac Escala and the Kia Stinger GT. The Kia Stinger GT is all-new for the 2018 Model Year, and is causing waves for its radical design and performance. Its modern and aggressive profile shows how newer companies like Kia are making a truly lasting name for themselves. Meanwhile, the Cadillac Escala is a display of what established elegance could look like in the near future. The Escala was first displayed at the 2016 Pebble Beach Concours dâElegance, and since then weâve seen a similar blade-like, LED-adorned front fascia on Cadillac models like the ATS-V and CT6.
While not necessarily a design per se, there was a clear resurgence of purple cars on the floor of the Chicago Auto Show. Purple cars were extremely popular in the past, finding their most recent spike in popularity in the late 1990âs and early 2000âs. While the royal hue fell out of style in favor of more monochromatic options, purple cars were found in spades from automotive heavyweights like BMW, Bentley, Ford, Toyota, and more!
America used to be in love with the station wagon, but these loveable family cruisers have become nearly extinct as the crossover continues to take over the family vehicle market. As we toured the 2018 Chicago Auto Show, we were excited to see a reemergence of âlongroofâ models from several popular manufacturers, including Buick, Jaguar, and Volvo.
Our Favorite Interiors
The automotive industry is in a constant state of evolution, forever changing with the needs and desires of the consumer on the go. The cars of the 2018 Chicago Auto Show were full of new features and designs that got us excited for the future! As cars get more and more advanced, engineers find more and more surprising ways to provide a pleasant driving experience.
The all-new 2018 Lincoln Navigator is a benchmark of American luxury, and the incredible 30-way power-adjustable Perfect PositionÂŽ front seats were proof that even seats have room for improvement.
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class has revolutionized automotive technology for decades, and the features you find inside them often trickle down to commuter cars over the next several years. Features like ABS and Pre-Collision Warning systems were all found first on Mercedes-Benz S-Class models, only to be adopted by every major auto manufacturer. The Mercedes-Maybach S 650 is the ultimate iteration of the S-Class, and features an incredibly lavish interior that makes you re-imagine what constitutes as âluxurious.â As cars move towards autonomy, itâs very possible we could see rear entertainment screens and a focus on back seat comfort become more prominent features in the future.
Volvo is another interior innovator, and their showing at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show certainly did not disappoint! This year, they brought several adorable stuffed dogs to showcase their line of custom-fitted dog cages. Personally, I found the Border Collie in the Volvo XC90 to be the cutest. Also, while not as adjustable as the Lincoln Navigator, the leather and AlcantaraÂŽ seats inside this 2018 Volvo V90 R-Design were among the most supportive and comfortable at the show.
